The hot, dog days of summer.....

Once again, here we are in the hot, dry summer months across the north Texas region. This is the time when soils supporting your home's foundation are rapidly losing that moisture stored up during the spring rains. Hopefully, you've also added, on a regular (daily?) basis, additional moisture around your home's foundation to try to offset these drying effects.

So if your soils resemble this photo, you are headed for trouble! Time to get out those soaker hoses (you do have them...correct?) , place them around the entire home about 16 in. from the foundation edge and water from 1-2 hours daily-preferably during the very late evening hours or very early in the mornings. Step #2...pray for some help from the skies because you probably can't afford to put down enough water to completely offset drying effects from our Texas heat.
